ASTROSAT space observatory In a major breakthrough, India joined the space observatory owners club with ASTROSAT on 28th September this year. Along with ASTROSAT, India also put six foreign satellites into the orbit.  

90 killed in gas cylinder explosion in Petlawad, MP

More than 90 people died and 100 were injured after a powerful gas cylinder explosion in a restaurant near Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh. The explosion took place at Sethiya restaurant situated near a bus stand in Petlawad. This explosion took place around 9 am in the morning.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced compensation of Rs 2,00,000 to the families of people killed and Rs 50,000 to people who were injured. High level enquiry was also ordered in this case.   


Ban on NSCN (K)

On 16th September, the Central government put a ban on National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) for five years. This decision came after the Peace Accord signed on August 3, 2015 between the NSCN (I-M) and the Centre. To ensure peace in conflict hit state of Nagaland, the government announced NSCN(K) as an unlawful organisation and banned it under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. NSCN(K) carried out a lot of explosions and violence in the state.   

India-Nepal relation

On 20 September 2015, the long stalled Constitution of Nepal was passed with 90 percent approval from the representatives in Nepal's Constituent Assembly (CA). This led to the protest by the Madhesis over the  unresolved issues touched off by the passage of the constitution related to the multitude of races, political interests and castes in the diverse country.

Later, the government of Nepal has accused India of imposing an undeclared blockade. India has denied the allegations, stating the supply shortages have been imposed by Madheshi protesters within Nepal and that India has no role in it. The blockade has choked imports of not only petroleum, but also medicines and earthquake relief material. Nevertheless the fuel crisis itself has direct relation to the Madhesh as it is the transit point for the vast majority of imports, two ethnic groups in the border region with India –Tharus and Madhesi people- have also been protesting against human rights violations, alleging that the new constitution marginalized them.  

Pankaj Advani won World Billiards Championship   

India's best billiards player Pankaj Advani won IBSF World Billiards Championship by defeating Singapore's Peter Gilchrist by 1168 points. This took his world title count to 14. This was a point format game which showcased the Indian cueist's best talent. Advani has dominated the World Billiards scene for a few years now, making his presence marked in both time and point formats. He is also a prolific snooker player who quit the game in 2014 to concentrate more on billiards and spend more time with his family.
