Bhubaneswar: In what could trigger panic across the capital city, the flood water in Orissa has now started entering the lower parts of Bhubaneswar. Water from the Kuakhayi and the Daya river, which is flowing on the northern and southern side of the capital respectively, has now started entering the low lying areas.

The flood-affected people are sailing out of the area through boats. Kurda region is also inundated by the flood water.

Although the district administration is continuously sending relief materials, the worsening situation in the past two days has tied the hands of the villagers in Kendrapara district. They have failed to get in touch with the district administration following which the relief materials sent the government has yet not reached them. This has left the villagers struggling to get basic necessities like drinking water.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Mohapatra said, “453 boats have been deployed in the Kendrapara areas and the flood situation has improved in the Cuttack region.”
