Shillong: Sashaatra Seema Bal (SSB) of Siliguri defeated Ganga Sports Club (GSC) of Assam by 1-0 in the ongoing 22nd All India Meghalaya Invitation Football Tournament held at the Polo Ground here on Tuesday.

Right from the start, SSB with red jerseys was on the attacking mood and GSC with white jerseys adopted both the defence and attacking tactics yielded no result due to strong defence on both sides.

Both SSB goalkeeper Anindya Sasmal and GSC goalkeeper Laltanpuia showed their skills and agility to save some of the powerful shots.

Till the end of the first half, the game looked as if it was going to end with a goalless draw (0-0).

But luck was on the SSB side, when one of GSC players made a blunder with a hand ball. K H Manaoba Singh took the penalty shot and made no mistake in sending the ball right into the opponents' net in the 62nd minute of the game to take SSB to victory by 1-0.

In another match, Ar Hima Football Club defeated Green Valley Sports Club by 9-0 in a one-sided match.

Ar Hima Football Club's Babatunde O Badmus scored six goals in the match.

He scored in the 8th, 16th, 27th, 64th, 73th & 79th minute.

While Restum Khriam scored a goal in the 3rd minute, Bansharai Sun scored in the 41st and Kyrshan Lynshing scored in the 19th minute of the match.
