Indore: A forest guard was arrested by Lokayukta Police from Burhanpur district on Sunday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000.
Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Shailesh Nimbhore, posted at Phofnar forest post in the district, when he was allegedly accepting the money from two villagers.
According to police, Nimbhore had intercepted the complainants when they were taking away wood from the forest area. He had demanded Rs 600 each as bribe from the duo and threatened to register a case against them if they failed to oblige.
The duo approached the Lokayukta Police who led the trap. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the forest guard in this regard.
