Haridwar: Taking an initiative for the well being of the wild animals of the Rajaji Natoinal Park, the forest officials have made an appeal to the villagers of the nearby villagers to avoid burning fire crackers.

The villagers have also committed their care for the wild animals and have decided to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali.

It is to be noted that a high alert has already been declared in the Rajaji national park. During Diwali, the park issues such alert to keep a check on illegal hunting. The forest administration had organized an awareness campaign in the villages adjoining the park.

The villagers were requested to avoid burning loud and light emitting crackers during Diwali as it frightens the wild animals and pollutes the environment.

According to the Deputy Director Shravan Kumar, “We have been running an awareness campaign for Diwali and the villagers have also assured to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali.”
