The Supreme Court has appointed Rai to head the committee that will audit accounts and assets of the temple over the last 25 years.

Meanwhile, Rai paid a visit to the temple last night and interacted with temple administration committee members, including chairperson and Additional District Sessions Judge K P Indira and Chief Executive Officer K N Satheesh.

According to sources, Satheesh will recruit members of the team that will assist Rai.

“We are looking for people with impeccable credentials who will be inducted into the team. They will be sourced from retirees from the audit cadre and serving IAS officers,” Rai told mediapersons outside the temple.

According to Rai, a special action plan will be formulated to do the audit of the temple’s assets and accounts as also daily revenue and expenditure.

The Supreme Court had issued the order for CAG audit after going through the report of Amicus Curie and former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramanian, who had made some glaring exposures about the assets and accounts of the temple.

According to his report, gold plating machines were found inside the temple. Their presence inside the temple campus has raised eyebrows as it indicates theft of gold by some ‘very influential’ people.

The report also has a special mention about the manner in which the Travancore royal family is administering the temple.
