New Delhi: Controversial former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to be inducted in the Team Rajnath due to closeness with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Amit Shah, who was considered to be the number 2 in Narendra Modi government, may be given a big role to play in the BJP’s central team.

Sources said that Amit Shah’s elevation to the central team was discussed during the tenure of Nitin Gadkari as the BJP president. But the decision was put on hold till the party president election got over.

Amit Shah has held several rounds of meeting with party president in this regard. Shah also met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj.
Two posts for party general secretary are lying vacant as Ravi Shankar Prasad was elected to the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, while Narendra Singh Tomar was appointed as the Madhya Pradesh BJP chief.

Newly appointed BJP president Rajnath Singh is mulling to curtail the team of spokespersons. The new team is likely to be announced before February 20.
