Lucknow: A case has been registered against a former Union Minister Ram Lal Rahi and 80 of his supporters for allegedly violating the model code of conduct in Hargaon area.

The case was lodged against Rahi and his daughter-in-law Majari Rahi who is a Congress candidate from Hargaon Assembly for holding a public meeting with their supporters in Paragi Lal Girls inter college in Bheekpur village without prior permission from the administration.

Meanwhile, refuting the charges of the police, Rahi said, “The police is trying to book me under a false case. In reality, there was no public meeting.”

Besides, a case of violating the model code of conduct for allegedly holding rallies without prior permission from the administration was also lodged against SP candidate Rajpal Yadav.

On the other hand, cases were lodged against many SP candidates for putting up hoardings and posters as part of their campaign.
