Etah:  Awadh Pal Singh, former cabinet minister in Mayawati government, his son Ranjit Singh and brother Chandrapratap Singh Yadav have been booked in a rape case. The case was registered against them at a police station in Aliganj for allegedly raping a Dalit woman. The former minister is already facing corruption charges.

A case has also been registered against Awadh Pal’s brother and MLC Chandrapratap Singh Yadav along with a woman Saroj in the rape case.

It is to be noted that a 22-year-old dalit woman, Manisha, had registered a complaint with UP Women’s Commission on September 26 accusing that the former minister had committed rape on her. In her complaint, the woman had said that another woman Sajor had taken her to the former minister’s residence in Nagla Tapua village promising to help her getting a job. When Manisha reached at Awadh Pal’s residence, she fell prey to his sensual desire.    

It is to be noted that the incident, according to the victim, took place 17 months back when Awadh Pal was Animal Husbandry Minister in Mayawati government. State Women’s Commission had handed over the case to Etah police. CO of Aliganj police station, Shamsher Singh, had submitted the investigation report to the commission on October 2.

Investigating officer has said that the former minister’s brother Chandrapratap has been booked for beating and making casteist comments against the victims. He said that policing is trying to arrest the accused.
