New Delhi: The Defence Ministry is all set to court martial former Military Secretary Lt Gen Avdhesh Prakash who was held guilty in the controversial Sukhna Land scam.

According to sources in the ministry, the proceedings will be held in Leimakhing of Manipur next month.

Prakash was held guilty by the court of inquiry last year.

Official sources said Director of Perspective Planning Branch Lt Gen Filip Kampoj will preside over the proceedings of the court martial.

Prakash can lose his rank and face a pension cut under the potential sentence under severe reprimand.

Notably, Lt Gen Prakash was the Secretary Military in the former Army chief Deepak Kapoor’s office.

Prior to his retirement on January 31, 2010, his court martial orders were given after the intervention of Defence Minister AK Antony.

Apart from Prakash, Lt Gen P K Rath, Lt Gen Ramesh Halgali and Sukhna Military Major Gen PK Sen were also found guilty of illegally giving land near Sukhna cantonment to private builders.

 During his court martial  Rath was seriously reprimanded and had to face loss of seniority for two years and 15 years pension cut.

Similarly, administrative action was launched against Lt Gen Halgali and Major Gen Sen.
