New Delhi: The four foreigners who were detained in the national capital for molesting a woman were released on the basis of diplomatic immunity.


They were nabbed for molesting a five-star hotel employee in a market near Connaught Place area of Delhi. It has been alleged that four people in a car belonging to the Yemen Embassy passed vulgar remarks at the woman and tried to threaten her.

An FIR was lodged at the Connaught Place police station and police nabbed all the four persons. Police said, two of the accused are Libyans and other two are Yemeni and Algerian, respectively.

The incident took place around 8 pm on Monday when the woman was returning from Janpath market, police added.

Additional Commissioner of Police, KC Dwivedi, said that a case under sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (outraging a woman’s modesty) and 34 (common intention) were registered.
