Bankura: Four minor girls, aged between five and 10, were raped by a 40-year-old man in West Bengal's Bankura district on January 3 police said on Sunday.

There were reports that the police on Sunday arrested the accused, identified as Ravi Loichan Dey, is a grocery shop owner.

An FIR was lodged with the Belatore police station by the guardians of the victims. They have alleged that the four girls had gone to the grocery shop at around 3 pm on January 3 to buy cake. On the pretext of giving them cake, the grocer allegedly took the girls to a nearby room and raped her.

In another shocking incident, a two-year-old girl was raped by 18-year-old youth at Minapara village in North Dinajpur district. The youth was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody. An FIR lodged by the victim's father said that the baby was raped when her mother went to wash clothes in a pond.
