Imphal: Four police personnel including an inspector attached to narcotic cell have been suspended in Manipur for dereliction of duty, official sources said on Tuesday.

The suspension order of the four, inspector W Ibomcha Singh and three personnel Ch Bikram Singh, M Ranjan Singh and Ch Dinachandra Singh, was issued on Monday by Director General of Police R Baral.

All the four were attached to the narcotic cell of the state police department and were charged with dereliction of duty, the sources said.

State Home Minister and senior Congress leader Gaikhangam had earlier pledged to transform the police forces in insurgency-affected Manipur in a 'people-friendly force' and also sought cooperation of people.

He had said police department would punish any police personnel acting against the interests of the general public as per provisions of the law.
