New Delhi: Four Sri Lankan nationals were detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly making attempt to board a Paris-bound flight with fraudulently obtained Indian passports.

The accused Sri Lankans had come to India in search of jobs. While struggling for employment they met agents who lured them of higher jobs and incomes in Paris. All four agreed to go abroad and paid lakhs for arranging fake Indian passports and visa.

But they could not dupe the immigration department officials at the Indira Gandhi International airport and were caught by the officials on Monday. Four of the detained Sri Lankan nationals including a woman were later handed over to the IGI police.

A woman agent has also been detained, whereas another male agent managed to escape to Paris.
Detainees had tickets of the GF-135 flight heading to Paris. On investigation, the immigration officials found that all of the passport and visa documents had been tampered.
