Ranchi: In a move that could bring smiles for fourth grade employees, the Jharkhand government has decided to upgrade peons, working in various government offices in the state, to clerks by approving the proposal of quota for them in the recruitment.

The state Cabinet gave its nod on Saturday. Cabinet Secretary Aditya Swaroop said that the Cabinet had approved the recruitment of fourth grade employees as low grade clerks as per the rules of State Secretariat Clerical Service-2010.

According to the rules, candidates should be graduate and will be recruited on the basis of a competitive exam held by the Jharkhand Joint Entrance Examination Council. A total fifteen percent of the clerk seats would be filled by this exam.
