Nainital: State Legal Services Authority of Uttarakhand has set up an action plan in order to impart free legal knowledge to 26,000 police officials of the state.

To achieve the same, law books will be distribute to police officials free of cost.

In a function held at Nainital High Court on Tuesday, Chief Justice Barin Ghosh and Chief Executive of Legal Authority Tarun Aggarwal inaugurated the program and presented a set of 34 such books to DGP JS Pandey and IG Kumaon Ram Singh Meena.

“The Police should have the basic knowledge of law while dealing with their day to day work.” A speaker said.

Appreciating the Authorities initiative DGP said “With the help of free books police officials will be able to improve their knowledge on law and it will have huge impact on their working.”

On the occasion Registrar General of the High Court Ram Singh and Member Secretary of State Legal Services Authority Prashant Joshi were also present.
