However, if experts are to be believed, the tariff reduction in power consumption and providing free water will result in the burden of around Rs 1,670 crore annually on public exchequer.

Delivering its poll promises AAP  has assured to provide every household 20,000 litres of water at no cost every month as well as families who use less than 400 units of power per month will get a 50 percent discount on their bills, the others will pay full rate for electricity. The new tariffs declared by AAP government will be implemented from March 1.

It is notable that lakhs of people will be benefited by decision of government, however Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has revealed that due to subsidy on electricity and water, government will be under extra burden of about Rs 1700 crore annually.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has revealed in Delhi Assembly on Tuesday that there has been a deficit of  about Rs 4,500 crore in current financial year and to meet this deficit various cost cutting measures will be adopted by the government.

Now it is obvious that after the increase in subsidy of Rs 1,700 crore, the deficit will rise up to almost Rs 6,000 crore.
