Northampton: Fresh doubts about Zaheer Khan's fitness for the third Test against England rose on Saturday when the pacer bowled only three overs in the two-day warm-up match against Northamptonshire.

Zaheer, who walked off the pitch following a hamstring strain on the opening day of the first Test at Lord's on July 21, was expected to be fit for the August 10-14 match at Birmingham.

He played in the two-day tie to test his fitness. He opened the Indian attack but bowled only three overs, conceding 24 runs and did not bowl thereafter, raising a question mark over his fitness.

In fact, he did not field at all thereafter and returned to the pavilion.

There was no official word from the Indian team management over his fitness.
