Dehradun: Heavy Snowfall brought the chill back in many parts of the Uttarakhand on Tuesday and the mountain region is under the grip of cold wave.

Due to snowfall highway connecting Gangotri and Yamunotri remained closed for two more days, while Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route in Kumaon region has also been affected.

Heavy snowfall was also reported from the higher reaches of Garhwal and Kumaon.

The snowfall in the hills started on Monday and continued till Tuesday. The weather department has predicted more snowfall on Wednesday.

The whole region of Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Harshil, Dayara, Dodital, Suki, Jhala, Sernaul, Durbil, Bigradi, Bdiyar Patti, Fateh Parwat, Kedar Kantha and Aara Kot received heavy snowfall.

Almost every part of the Uttarakhand hills received heavy snowfall which has thrown life out of gear and hampered the traffic on road.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of western disturbances and cyclonic circulation will continue till Wednesday. It’s predicted that it could lead to rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas of the state, while other areas may witness rainfall and thunder downpour.
