New Delhi: Prices of vegetables and fruits have scaled a new high in the market ahead of the festive season. The wholesale prices of fruits and vegetables have increased from Rs 2 – Rs 5 per kg which has further affected the retail trade. 

With this, the consumers who are already upset with rise in inflation would now also feel the pinch of rising food prices amidst the festive celebrations. 

According to vegetable sellers from Azadpur wholesale market, the price of more consumed vegetables has gone up on reduced supply in comparison to last year’s festive season.

The price of vegetables like lady finger which had earlier gone up by Rs 15 to Rs 18 per kg in whole market has now further escalated to Rs 20. Whereas, vegetable like peas is being sold Rs 100 per kg, the price of bottle gourd has increased from Rs 15 – Rs 17 per kg. Gourd, potato and onion are among others expensive vegetables.
