Kolkata: In the wake of AMRI incident, the West Bengal government constituted Fire Safety Audit Committee (FSAC) which issued notice to the Baghajanit State General Hospital here on Saturday for having weak fire suppression systems.

The FSAC has launched a campaign to investigate fire suppression systems installed in various hospitals in Kolkata.

Team officials said, “Hundreds of patients are admitted to the hospital, but the fire suppression systems have neither fire licence nor sprinkler nor the fire alarm to make the people aware of the incident in advance.”

An FIR was lodged against the South Kolkata based-Kothari Hospital for negligence.

The hospitals were given a month time to strengthen their fire suppression systems. If the hospital administration fails to comply with the norms, harsh action would be taken against them, the officials said.

It is worth mentioning that FSAC has already served notices to the Nightingale, Fortis and Woodland hospitals for their negligence.

Meanwhile, the CMRI Hospital has been directed to widen its exit gate.
