Nuh: The scarcity of fund has marred the state government’s ambitious project to promote education among girl child through Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Mewat district.

According to reports, despite the fund worth crores of rupees being granted for construction of the school buildings three years ago, the ongoing work was left in midway due to shortage of funds.

Three months back, the state government again allocated Rs 75 lakhs to the Mewat Development Agency but no concrete step has been taken so far to complete the construction work.

When asked, Mewat Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Singh Yadav said the work on school buildings would be completed soon.

It may be noted that KGBVs were started in Hathin, Ferozepur Jhirka and Nagina in Mewat to provide literacy among girl child of schedule caste community. In absence of school buildings, over 1500 girl students registered with KGBVs are attending classes at Mewat Model Schools’ buildings.
