Vadodara: State-run gas firm Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will jointly constitute a new organization, which will supply piped natural gas in the city and its surrounding areas. Signing and exchanging of shared agreement between GAIL and VMC for the new venture will take place on Saturday, said Municipal Commissioner Manish Bhardwaj on Friday.

The pact will be signed in the presence of Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Patel. "The proposed company aims at providing gas to the city and surrounding areas for domestic, non-domestic and industrial purposes," Bhardwaj said.

The firm is expected to initially provide over 85,000 gas connections in the city.
