New Delhi: After suffering a major setback in the form of loss of Zaheer Khan, Team India received another major jolt on Friday when opener Gautam Gambhir was ruled out of the second Test against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

While fielding at forward short-leg, Gambhir had sustained an elbow injury in the first Test. He went out of the field immediately and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Owning to the injury, he did not open the second innings.

In Gambhir's absence, India’s middle order batsman Rahul Dravid may again be forced to step up to open the innings and Yuvraj Singh will get another chance to resurrect his Test career.

Gambhir did come back on the final day and batted quite comfortably too; the swelling had, however, not subsided.

India are already without the swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag and pace spearhead Zaheer Khan, as both are nursing injuries.
