Jaipur: Expressing serious concerns over the growing cases of baseless Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the state, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot sought the court to take stringent measures for curbing the issue.

“PIL holds a very important position in the legal system of the country, but the increasing cases of baseless PILs are emerging as a grave concern. Strict and effective measures are the need of the hour,” said the Chief Minister while addressing All India Judicial Officers’ Conference here on Saturday.

He further said that the baseless PILs are creating hindrance in the judicial working and leading to the increase in pending cases.

Extending all possible assistance to the judiciary in the state, Gehlot said, “Besides upgrading the courts and making it infrastructurally sound, the administration will also take due care of all the grievances and demands of the judicial officials.”
