No prizes for guessing which team it was.

Clinching its maiden series win against feared Australians is not a trivial achievement for Indian women cricket team but not to our surprise, the limelight was hogged by their male counterparts who also sealed the series in same format.

The Indian women, unfortunately, face such biasedness. Since early childhood they are told to fit into the mould of 'beauty' which is recklessly designed by the society to cater to its own visual pleasure. 'Beauty' never had anything to do with strength and agility. For this reason, we find sports like aerobics more socially acceptable than football when it comes to female participation because it leads to weight loss and body toning.

This is the reason why world is still looking for women who can become synonymous to a sport like Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Schumacher.

Sportspersons like Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Deepika Pallikal and Mithali Raj have finally been given recognition but what is it compared to Virat Kohli's fame or Sachin Tendulkar's God-status?

Here, we do not want to discredit males of their achievements, but just trying to reiterate the importance of giving females their due respect which we have owed them for years.
