Vadodara: Refuting safety norms charges made by the striking union, General Motors India on Sunday said the company has always followed best practices in its operations at its plant here.

Vice president of the company P Balendran said that all the charges like violation of safety norms, non-payment of provident funds have been found to be baseless even by the government authorities who visited the company plant.

He said the ongoing strike was a fallout of inter-union rivalry.

"A number of workers have now resumed their duties. We have urged the remaining workers also to resume duties immediately as the government has also declared the strike illegal as on March 18, 2011", Beltran said.
