The theme of Congress party’s election advertisements is gyrating around Rahul Gandhi only. Even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who have been main architects of UPA-I and UPA-II, could not make it to the canvas of poll advertisements.

The Congress party has decided to blunt ‘Modi wave’ triggered by vigorous ad-campaigns of Bharatiya Janata Party and change gear to make whirlwind campaign to optimize electoral gains.

New poll advertisements are being shot in a clandestine manner in metropolitan cities like Kolkata and Delhi and they would be released soon through various mediums and agencies.

In a bid to strike emotional chord with youths and women, Congress leaders like Sachin Pilot, Ajay Maken, Arun Yadav and Ashok Tanwar would feature extensively in these advertisements alongside their leader Rahul Gandhi, who is trying hard to revive sagging image of the party in the run-up to elections.

Taking a leaf out of saffron book for branding Modi as nation’s only hope, the Congress is now seen promoting Rahul Gandhi and glorifying him as a savior of people suffering from malaise.

The demand of Rahul Gandhi amongst the Congress candidates throughout the country for holding rallies in their constituencies is quite high. Even Priyanka Gandhi is sought after during poll campaigns, it remains to be seen whether she would conduct rallies outside Amethi and Raebareli in the present circumstances.

Sonia Gandhi’s rallies are on the wish list of Congress candidates from South India, while Manmohan Singh’s demand is fairly good in Punjab and northeastern part of the country.
