Sanaa: Fourteen people, including four children were killed, as a generator exploded at a village in Yemen, police officials said. A total of 14 people, including eight women besides four children lost their lives in the explosion late on Saturday in Al-Kadam village in Mahweet province, located around 150 km west of Sanaa, police officials said.

The officials added that four people were seriously wounded and a two-storey house got destroyed under the blast’s impact.

Officials also added that the blast got triggered due to a short circuit in the generator, which ignited a large amount of stored fuel in a small underground room. Yemenis widely use private generators and store large quantities of fuel in their houses to cope with frequent power outages.
