Joshimath: A German tourist who had gone for trekking in the mountains of Arab Tal in Chamoli is missing for the last four days. The Army has been pressed into the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, the local administration has been unable to provide the details of the members of the team. This, after the administration itself gave permission to the team for trekking.

Joshimath Deputy District Magistrate Devanand Sharma said, “Army has been pressed into rescue operation, but bad weather is obstructing the rescue work.”

The missing German mountaineer was a member of a trekking team, led by Delhi’s Ruksad Tour and Travels Private limited and Joshimath’s Grand Adventure. The four-member team, which had one Italian and one Swiss national also as members, left for Arba Tal Track on May 1.

Devanand Sharma said that the team was permitted for trekking till May 27.

According to report, the trekking team had their camp in Ghastoli, from where they headed for the Arba snowy peaks. One of the team members stayed back in the camp.

On May 11, after covering 4 kilometre distance from the camp, the German national Daniel fell in a deep ditch. After getting the information a wide rescue operation was launched through helicopters.
