The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) gave no details about the German combatant's identity, pointing out that she succumbed to wounds sustained on Sunday after Kurdish-IS clashes in the town of Tal Tamr in the al-Hasakah province.

The German woman is the third foreign fighter from the Kurdish units killed in al-Hasakah, and the first female foreign fighter to be killed there.

A British fighter was killed last Wednesday during clashes with IS militants in the area located between Tal Hamis and al-Houl in the al-Hasakah province.

On February 25, an Australian fighter was killed in clashes with IS militants in Tal Hamis.
