Hajipur (Bihar): A teenage girl was burnt alive on Sunday after some people allegedly flung her into a blazing house following an altercation with her father at a village in Bihar's Vaishali district, police said.

The incident took place at Bijroula village after some villagers allegedly threw 18-year-old Gunjan following a dispute with her father Harinder Singh, they said.

Harinder, who was locked in a property dispute with his brother Suresh, had thrashed a man for helping him look after the property.

Following the incident, a group of villagers picked up a fight with Harinder and later set his house on fire. They then pushed Gunjan into the raging blaze, the police said.

Her charred body was later recovered by the police from the gutted house.

Police patrolling was intensified and a magistrate was later posted at the village for maintaining law and order.
