New Delhi: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on Tuesday demanded central government to include Darjeeling reserved forest land in the proposed GTA (Gorkhaland Territorial Authority).

During his meeting with Home Minister P Chidambaram, GJM chief Bimal Gurung and general secretary Roshan Giri raised the issue demanding to give the authority of Darjeeling reserved forest to the proposed GTA.

Besides, Gurung and Giri also urged Chidambaram to pave the way for the implementation of GTA which has been in the limbo since September last year after West Bengal assembly passed a bill on GTA.

After his meeting with Home Minister, Gurung said, “Due to delay in approval from home ministry, GTA act has not been implemented yet. Chidambaram has given assurance to give final call within two days.”

On the other hand, Gorkha leaders said, “The authority of proposed Gorkhaland reserved forest should be given to GTA”.

With this they also asked to issue certificates to the Gorkhas, residing in other parts of the country.
