Kolkata:  Enclosing the last week agreement into a pact between the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and newly formed West Bengal Government, the agreement is likely to be signed in the presence of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on June 25-26.

According to sources, the two-day convention at Raj Bhawan will witness the presence of Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan and CM Mamata Banerjee along with P Chidambaram.

“Mamata Banerjee in her Monday visit to New Delhi will discuss the issue with the Home Minister and request him to be present at the time of signing the agreement,” sources said.

Notably, the GJM is a registered political party, which has down the line campaigned for the creation of a separate state (Gorkhaland) within India.
