The 'Gramin Suswasthya Micro Insurance Policy' offered by GKEL secures each policy holder family to the extent of Rs 30,000 for medical treatment during hospitalisation and up to Rs 1,25,000 in case the head of the family meets with an accident, a company release said.

GKEL's health insurance policies, first of its kind in Odisha, would ensure health security of land losers as part of its CSR activities, it claimed.

GKEL would bear the expenses of the premium and the policy would be administered by the National Insurance Company, the release said.

GKEL is taking two major steps to benefit families that have contributed their land for building its power plant.

"First, health insurance policies would be distributed to ensure their health security. And second, fee concession at the GMR Varalakshmi DAV Public School to secure their children’s bright future," said R Ravindranathan Nair, Director & Chief Operating Officer.

GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd has commissioned three units of 350 MW each at Kamalanga and supplies power to GRIDCO (Odisha), BSPHCL (Bihar) and HPPC (Haryana).
