Porvorim: Opener Suraj Dongre scored a half- century as hosts Goa escaped defeat against Jammu & Kashmir in the U-22 C K Nayudu four-day cricket match at PCA ground – Porvorim.

Needing 273 runs for an outright win after JK declared their second innings at 296 for nine in 83 overs, Goa's slumped from 164-4 to 165 for 8 in 83 overs when stumps were drawn on the last day.

Sharma did most of the damage in the mandatory overs with bowling figures of 3-3-0-4. He took 4-24.

Thanks to opener Suraj Dongre who scored a superb 66 in 131 balls with seven hits to the fence, the hosts managed to sneak out a draw.

Earlier, resuming overnight score of 252 for 6, J&K declared their second innings on 294 for 9.

For Goa, Vitthal Gauns was the most successful bowler claiming 3-45.
