Wanchoo is likely to be quizzed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Agusta Westland VVIP chopper scam.

"We are telling him for his own good," BJP state vice-president Wilfred Mesquita said.

Mesquita, who was speaking on the sidelines of a formal media interaction at the party's state headquarters in Panaji on Friday, said, “We have nothing personal against the governor. But when such controversies arise they should step aside, because otherwise it casts a shadow over the dignity of the Constitutional Post.”

Former national security advisor and current West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan has already been questioned by the CBI in connection with the chopper scam and media reports suggest that Wanchoo could be next in line.

According to the CBI, both Wanchoo and Narayanan were part of meetings which led to the high ceiling of the VVIP choppers sought being reduced, enabling Agusta Westland, an Italian chopper manufacturer, to enter the picture.
