"We are expecting six percent growth in agriculture in the current financial year. We are sure to achieve this target due to our concentrated efforts," Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said in Panaji on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day.

He appealed the people to adopt ‘positive thinking’ towards the government and sought their assistance in fulfilling the assurances given to them.

"Enough steps have been taken for the welfare of people by the current government. We hope to achieve this target (of growth in agricultural production)," he said.

The Chief Minister said that his government has accorded top priority to issues like employment and water infrastructure.

"The reservoirs like Opa, Selaulim and Verna would be augmented with 50 percent additional capacity,” he said, adding that this would suffice to provide round-the-clock drinking water in the state.
