The first team, led by Manash Barooah and the second by Nandadulal Das, were both part of a Pre-Everest Expedition sponsored by the state government.

The first five-member team reached the summit on June 2 and the second team comprising six members reached on Tuesday, according to a government release.

The Chief Minister said success of the two teams reflected the adventurous spirit of the youth and hoped the mountaineers who successfully conquered Island Peak would gear up for the Asom Everest Expedition to scale Mount Everest in 2015.
