Once developed, the app will allow you to do things on mobile phone which are so for restricted to desktop. However, it is not yet clear when the tools will be ready and it may take long for developers to get started.
Interestingly, the apps are meant for both the Play Store and App Store. The requirements suggest that Android 4.0 will be supported, with iOS functionality marked as TBA. The apps are said to be ready for beta testing as early as in January.

Just few months back, Google had completely revamped its Chrome Apps by making it capable of launching the applications from a Windows desktop heading the update.  Earlier to this, in 2010, the company opened the Chrome Web Store with the goal of promoting websites that were app-like in nature.
