Replying to a question during Question Hour in the state Assembly, the minister said the land, measuring 912 acres, was being acquired for setting up of Chaudhary Devi Lal Industrial Model Township (IMT), Manesar.

The acquisition proceedings, however, were dropped subsequently, he added.

"It is also a fact that the state government issued a notification dated August 27, 2004 under section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, for acquisition of about 912 acres land for the project." he explained.

issued, he informed the House.

After issuing the notification under section 6, and before taking the decision to drop the acquisition  proceedings, about 70 acres of land was released by the government to different parties, he explained.
