The minister said CID, which monitors cases of heinous crimes like rape, has recently written to all district Police Superintendents to facilitate speedy trial of pending cases by prompt framing of chargesheet and other procedure.
In reply to another question, the minister said since 2006 the NDA government in the state by way of speedy trial in 36,270 cases helped in punishing 79,260 people involved in heinous crimes like massacres and under SC & ST Act.
Replying to a question by CPI MLC Kedarnath Singh, he said there was shortage of judges in the lower judiciary but cases were being disposed of through speedy trial.
The Bihar government's model of speedy trial was gaining popularity across the country and many states were emulating it, he claimed.
