New Delhi: Till date, you have seen bouncers in discs, pubs and hotels but don’t get surprised when you see them inside hospitals or around doctors. Bouncers are being deployed to protect the doctors from the wrath of patients’ kins. Taking an initiative, the government-run Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital has decided to provide bouncers to its doctors. If it happens, DDU will be the capital’s first hospital where bouncers will be deployed for security purposes.

Upset over the routine based incidents of assaulting doctors by the patient’s angry kin, the DDU administration has planned to avail the services of bouncers. Hospital administration has conveyed their recommendations to the government health officials. Speculations are rife that hospital would begin to receive bouncer services very soon.

Dr. Parveena Goyal, looking after hospital administration in the absence of medical superintendent said that “doctor’s safety is important. Day-to-day patients and their kins assault doctors for any reason. Such cases came to light at least four times in last six months and in these incidents, patients have to suffer the most. Police always gives us an assurance to provide security but when it comes to action they back off making excuse of staff shortage. So, we have decided to hire bouncers and we hope that our suggestions will be accepted.
