New Delhi: After Anna Hazare’s announcement of going on a hunger strike from April 5, the government has once again invited the social activist for talks.

An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) constituted under the leadership of Defence Minister AK Antony has been asked to initiate the talks.

Minister of State for DoPT V Narayanswamy in a letter has intimated Hazare that the meeting has been fixed for Monday and the agenda of the meeting has been fixed by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In the meeting his (Hazare’s) proposals on Lokpal Bill will be discussed.

Hazare said, “I have no problem to go for the meeting. But at the same time I want that a panel of representatives of people and Ministers should be formed where the Lokpal Bill should be discussed in a detailed way.”

He added that he would go on a hunger strike from April 5, if his demands are not considered seriously.

However, Manmohan had already met the activist on March 7 where he said that he also has aims of uprooting corruption. PM is stated to have said that a panel under the leadership of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has already been formed and they are working on it.

During the meeting PM had stated that he would ask Mukherjee to hold talks with Hazare under the GoM constituted under him.

Anna and his followers had been fighting against corruption under the ‘India Against Corruption’ campaign and pressurizing the government to introduce the Lokpall Bill.
