Puducherry: Puducherry government has evolved an action plan to combat spread of dengue, which include desilting drainage channels, garbage removal and proper implementation of solid waste disposal, official sources said.

A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting of officials from the departments of municipal administration, health, PWD and Vector Control Research Institute on Wednesday in the wake of death of a two year old due to suspected dengue on Oct 9, they said.

Local Administration Minister N G Paneerselvam, who chaired the meeting, urged the officials to carry out an anti plastic drive to ensure sewage flow in channels was not blocked.

Members of Self Help Groups would meet people at their homes to explain various `dos and dont's` to keep the environment clean and to ward off any scope for occurrence of dengue. The drive would continue unabated, they said.
