Jaipur:  In order to provide rented houses to the urban poor, the Central government is planning to devise scheme under the Rajiv Awas Yojana and Urban BPL Housing Programme.

The government will also provide a loan upto Rs 5 lakh along with a subsidy of 5 percent in order to enable the people getting access to other necessary facilities.

Newly appointed Union Housing, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister Girija Vyas has already approved the plan which will kick start from her constituency - Chittorgarh on 1st August.

Talking to reporters on Monday, Vyas said that all the state governments have been instructed to chalk out a new master plan to replace temporary settlements with concrete structures and submit the report to Urban Development Ministry.

The Union Minister has approved the construction of 1737 houses in Udaipur constituency. She further mentioned that the Union Housing and Poverty Alleviation Ministry has allotted Rs 23,184 crore under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
