In his reply, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said, a monitoring committee was constituted on February 21, 2014 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
The committee shall monitor misleading advertisement and unfair trade practices arising there to and suggest steps accordingly, identify and recommend appropriate legislative measures and suggest on ongoing basis institutional measures for intervention in this regard.
To another question, Javadekar said that the total registered subscriber base of private DTH operators in India was 64.82 million as on March 31, this year, according to the data provided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Replying to another question, the Minister also said that Prasar Bharati has informed that Doordarshan stations have been set up in 135 backward districts of the country, while broadcasting centres of All India Radio have been set up in 92 of them.
