Lucknow: In order to fulfill the promises made in the election manifesto, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that all the Muslim youths, who were falsely implicated on terror charges, will be released soon.

Akhilesh Yadav said to the CPI (M) leaders that his government is committed to fulfill its promises made in the poll manifesto. The Chief Minister assured them of early release of all those ‘innocent’ Muslim youths who are in jail on false terror charges.

CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat and senior party leader Subhashini Ali requested Akhilesh Yadav to provide compensation and rehabilitation to Muslim youths who were arrested on terror charges but later acquitted by the courts.

The CPM leaders handed over a list of nine youths to the CM. Wasif Haider, Shafahat Rasul Haji spent eight years in prison, while Mumtaj Ahmed nine years. The court acquitted them for want of evidence.

During the 2012 UP assembly election, the Samajwadi Party had announced to release all the innocent Muslim youths languishing in jail in the name of fight against terrorism.
