Chandigarh: A handball academy would come up at Narwana in Haryana's Jind district, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said.

He made the announcement while winding up his two-day tour of the district and issued directions to the Deputy Commissioner to send a proposal in this regard, an official release said.

Narwana has many national level handball players and the academy would benefit them.

The Chief Minister said an action plan had been prepared for the development of Jind under which all projects would be completed in the given time-frame. He gave Rs 75 crore to the development and Panchayat department of the district, saying all development works would begin before December 31.

Arrangements would be made for finding a permanent solution to the problem of rain water clearance in Jind city. Directions have been issued to officers of different departments to prepare a consolidated plan for the whole city within one month, he said.

All pending tube well connections would be provided in the next 3 months, he added.

Hooda said National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued directions to start work of the Rohtak-Jind highway before March 15, 2013 and on the Jind-Narwana national highway before April 15, 2013.
