New Delhi: Amid the clamouring within the BJP for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’ prime ministerial candidature, former BJP ideologue and RSS thinker KN Govindacharya preferred veteran leader LK Advani to the top post in run up to the 2014 parliamentary elections.

Talking to a private news channel, Govindacharya said that experienced Advani be declared prime ministerial candidate in 2014 general elections. The RSS thinker ruled out Modi’s candidature for the post of Prime Minister by terming him as an inexperienced leader.

The Gujarat CM needs to take more time before play a bigger role at the Centre, said the former BJP ideologue. The country needs an experienced leader like Advani, added Govindacharya.

Before assuming the office as Prime Minister of India, the leaders like Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh among others should serve the country as the Cabinet Ministers. Turning down the popularity of Modi, Govindacharya said that experience matters in running the government at the Centre.

On being asked about Sanjay Joshi being sidelined in the BJP, Govindacharya said, “A political leader should be a good strategist. If you remain adamant in making decisions concerning the party affairs, how will you take the others in confidence? ” questioned the octogenarian leader.

Govindacharya’s statements came in the backdrop of Modi’s address during the BJP’s national council meeting in New Delhi.
